Main Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Global Head, the Project Lead will contribute to the development of the Global R&D Innovation Roadmap and priorities by providing scientific guidance and direction in their field of expertise.

  • Identify external stakeholders, advisors, and partners/collaborators that will enable the execution of the innovation projects.

  • Participate and conduct several initiatives (e.g., pitching competitions, AI tools) to search for external innovation programs that can be transformative or game changing

  • Develop the project workplan and budget in collaboration with external partners and the relevant functions.

  • Develop the project deliverables, risks, and Go/No Go decision strategies.

  • Through their leadership, drive the innovation project through defined milestones in collaboration with the external partner, enabled by funding within the Innovation Emerging Sciences budget envelope.

  • Serve as the key point of contact for the program and provide regular updates to key governance groups within Sanofi Vaccines for validation of the scientific investments, scientific plans and progress against program milestones.

  • Contribute to additional external collaborations as defined and aligned with the Project Lead’s subject matter expertise.

  • Represent Sanofi Vaccines at external scientific conferences and international meetings.

  • Collaborate with key functions throughout the Sanofi Vaccines and Sanofi Group organizations, such as External R&D, Alliance Management, Early and Late Development Portfolio Groups, Chief Scientific Officer, etc.

  • Collaborate with the Global Head by providing scientific guidance and direction in their field of expertise in the development of the Global R&D Innovation Roadmap and innovation priorities

  • Identify and engage potential collaborators, develop the project workplan and budget in collaboration with external partners and the relevant vaccine R&D functions.

  • Lead >1 project per year. Develop the project deliverables, risks, and Go/No Go decisions. Through their leadership, drive the innovation project through defined milestones in collaboration with the external partner.

About You:

  • Ph.D. in any of the relevant fields – bacteriology, virology, immunology, or a related discipline or an M.D. or Pharm.D.

  • 5 years + experience in Vaccines, Immunology or Infectious Disease R&D

  • Resourceful, highly entrepreneurial and knowledgeable in scouting/networking for potential external partners and following emerging trends in biomedical innovations.

  • Project leadership, management, budget management and/or management experience required

  • Proficiency in managing by influence

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills - ability to work with individuals at different levels

  • Agent of change

  • Demonstrated team and negotiation skills

  • Strongly results oriented

  • Fluent English communication skills, verbal and written; fluency in French a plus

  • Ability to work in an international context

  • Ability to challenge the status quo and proactively propose changes
