The Director of Strategy is a critical member of the Aerospace Controls leadership team, dually reporting operationally to the Aerospace Controls General Manager and functionally to CCT Vice President of Strategy. The role’s mission is to optimize internal resources, methodologies, and analyses to enable Aerospace Controls leadership team to make well-informed strategic business decisions. This role is accountable to drive Aerospace Controls strategic planning and capital deployment processes to foster continued growth and profitability.

Primary Duties :

Strategy Development & Formulation

  • Work with Aerospace Controls leadership team to develop, prioritize and ground strategic initiatives

  • Drive market segmentation and map strategic position versus competition

  • Analyze strategic drivers to frame key decisions including investments and tradeoffs

  • Lead business case development leveraging frameworks to analyze alternate scenarios

  • Oversee and lead ITT’s Annual Strategic Planning Cycle for Aerospace Controls

  • Manage the calendar and meetings associated with the formal annual Strategic Plan preparation

  • Synthesize key themes, strategies, and actions into executive-level communications, including development of formal Strategic Plans submitted to ITT Corporate and Board of Directors

  • Adopt continuous improvement to refine repeatable work and build best-in-class strategic planning processes, tools, analytics and playbooks that enhance accuracy, actionability and results

Business Intelligence Excellence

  • Gather, assess and validate global market intelligence and generate analysis and recommendations related to trends across Aerospace Controls end markets and adjacencies

  • Identify expansion opportunities and potential threats

  • Anchor market perspectives using multiple primary and secondary market tools and resources

  • Interface with Industry groups to gather information and represent CCT’s interests effectively

  • Monitor key competitors and comparable firms

  • Maintain comprehensive understanding of competitors’ participation and competitive strategies

  • Track CCT performance vs competitors’ share and results; assess competitive threats and response

  • Analyze and make recommendations related to:

  • Emerging industry trends

  • Expansion opportunities

  • Viability of outside business partnerships, alliances and ventures

Product Portfolio Strategy & Execution

  • Lead product portfolio strategy and lifecycle management, partnering cross-functionally across geographies with product management, R&D, sales and operations on new product development, regional and market priorities, maintenance plans/aftermarket penetration and product end of life

  • Oversee the product management function and team of product managers accountable for deploying a robust product management playbook that includes development of product roadmaps that outline the overall strategic direction and development of business cases around target cost basis/margins, pricing, major projects, and regional market entry/ exit plans

  • Grow product lines in new profitable market segments, applications and geographies, including development of “go-to-market” plans grounded in customer insights aligned with product roadmaps & financial objectives

  • Align commercial efforts to drive a balanced view between existing product support, incremental product development, and breakthrough new product innovation

Profitable Growth through Innovation

  • Advance innovation opportunities with market potential by partnering with product management and R&D

  • Drive rigor in new product development and technology assessments grounded in specific market trends and customer insight research and aligned with strategic and financial objectives

  • Identify and assess future technology trends that might influence/disrupt our business and/or profitability

  • Provide commercial assessment and analysis of new technologies

Strategy Deployment & Execution

  • Ensure advancement of strategic objectives through leadership of an effective Goal Deployment Process

  • Lead cross-functional teams to drive key strategic initiatives to support long-term growth

  • Engage commercial teams to reinforce sales plans with strategic perspectives and/or strategic initiatives

  • Prepare presentations to report progress, status and updated requirements to CCT and ITT leadership teams

Inorganic Growth

  • Identify, investigate, and evaluate acquisition, licensing and strategic alliance opportunities

  • Support financial analyses of prospective ventures or acquisitions as well as preparation of presentations

  • Project manage and lead due diligence efforts for Aerospace Controls

Skills and Experience:

Requirements & Skills:

· BS/BA in Business Management, Engineering or a technical field

· MBA preferred

· 10+ years of progressive sales, strategy or business development experience, preferably in the aerospace manufacturing industry

· Experience participating in a company’s strategic planning process, preparation of departmental budgets and operating plans

· Possess significant initiative and ability to develop, implement, and achieve ambitious stretch goals for the organization

· Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse and global employees, including the ability to motivate, energize, manage and develop performance of other staff members

· Polished presentation and communication skills

· The ability to travel domestically and internationally
