Job Summary:

Coordinates the smooth operation of the gift shop on a daily basis. Responsible for inventory tracking, scheduling of staff and volunteers, and other gift shop activities. Assists in the performance of volunteer activities as needed.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements:

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Leads or coordinates shift operations of assigned activities, resources, and/or associates. Serves as a resource to those with less experience. Trains and provides direction to all staff and volunteers in the gift shop.

  • Maintains inventory database. Verifies counts on packing slips for new merchandise. Records new inventory items and prints price stickers, removes clearance merchandise from inventory, etc. Ensures freight is processed and on shelves in a timely manner. Programs cash register.

  • Contacts vendors regarding damages, overages, or shortages. Orders and maintains stock levels for standard merchandise (i.e. cards, magazines, candies, etc.). Assists with the gift shop inventory. Assists in transfer of merchandise to other gift shops and assists with questions and display techniques.

  • Informs management of day-to-day issues concerning the gift shop, as well as which items are slow to sell.

  • Reconciles register tape against cash, checks, and charges from previous day/weekend and makes deposits.

  • Assists customers with purchases. Utilizes the register and accurately completes the transaction minimizing errors and possible losses.

  • Ensures gift shop remains clean, tidy, and stocked. Coordinates the display of merchandise. Fills and prepares gift containers and gift baskets as ordered. Protects store assets by greeting customer and frequently acknowledging customer by offering assist

  • Responsible for processing payroll deductions and getting to payroll department in a timely manner. Pulls statements for in house charges and submits to Accounting Department in a timely manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or equivalent years of education and experience

EXPERIENCE

  • One year experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.

  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.

  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.

  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.

  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.

  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.

  • Rare climbing.
