Overview The Department of Technology, Design, and Technical Education (TDTE) at Utah State University (USU) seeks candidates for a full-time, academic-year (9-month), non-tenure track term lecturer position that offers benefits. This position is specifically for the nail technology courses in the cosmetology program at the USU Eastern campus in Price, Utah. This position will be supervised by the associate department head who oversees the Cosmetology programs in the Department of Technology, Design and Technical Education. Review of applications will begin in June 2024, and application reviews and interviews will continue until the position is filled.

It is anticipated that the individual selected for this faculty position will start in August of 2024.

Responsibilities With a primary role of teaching (95%), the successful candidate the successful applicant for this position will teach, improve, and develop courses in the USU Eastern cosmetology program with an emphasis on students enrolled in the nail technician program. The faculty member will be responsible for initiation and implementation of successful nail technology classes that connect to department certifications, and stack into associate and bachelors degree programs. This hire will also be responsible for contributing to sustainable enrollment in the classes they instruct and will be expected to work collaboratively with other faculty members to enhance the success of the cosmetology program and students.  The additional role assignment is service (5%), and the successful candidate will be expected to provide meaningful service to the program, department, campus, university, the profession, and the community.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Teaching courses within the program curriculum and according to the program schedules.
  • Maintaining and providing classroom instruction and maintaining a healthy learning environment for students.
  • Assuring that the assigned Nail Technology classes are conducted in accordance with all federal regulations, University and state rules, and department policy.
  • Maintaining accurate documentation of student attendance and skill development.
  • Assuring that students successfully meet all completion requirements.
  • Working collaboratively as part of the cosmetology/nail technology program teaching team, including full-time faculty, adjunct faculty, and staff.
  • Ordering and maintaining an inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Working with CTE Pathway Programs to recruit students into the classes/cosmetology program.
  • Assisting in additional teaching responsibilities as needed in the cosmetology program.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
