Kelly Services PCR Laboratory Technician in North Chicago, Illinois

Kelly Science has an immediate opening for a PCR Laboratory Technician for our growing client in North Chicago, IL

Full-time

Pay: $23/hr-$25/hr

Our client is at the forefront of air quality analysis, utilizing proprietary air sampling devices to provide accurate and reliable results to our valued customers. We are currently seeking a dedicated Laboratory Technician to join our team and contribute to our mission of ensuring clean and safe environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sample Handling:

  • Receive and log customer samples collected by proprietary air sampling devices.

  • Process samples for testing and communicate with customers regarding sample status and delivery timelines.

  • Customer Support:

  • Monitor and respond to inquiries received at the lab support email address.

  • Molecular Biology Techniques:

  • Purify RNA and DNA from samples.

  • Conduct qPCR on RT-Thermal Cyclers and Thermal Cyclers.

  • Perform cDNA synthesis.

  • Immunoassays and Testing:

  • Conduct ELISA and ELISA-based testing.

  • Operate multiplex immunoassays in a Luminex-based system under direct supervision.

  • Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Analyze test results.

  • Complete customer data reports using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) under direct supervision.

  • Quality Assurance:

  • Follow standard operating procedures.

  • Report non-compliances, errors, and equipment downtime promptly.

  • Equipment and Inventory Management:

  • Maintain laboratory equipment by upholding quality standards, certifying instrument performance, and arranging equipment repairs with supervisor approval.

  • Manage laboratory supplies inventory, anticipate supply needs, and prepare supply orders for approval.

  • Device Maintenance and Logistics:

  • Maintain proprietary air sampling devices.

  • Coordinate shipping and receiving of devices to and from customer locations.

  • Communicate with customers regarding delivery timelines and maintain required documentation as instructed by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Biology, Biological Sciences, or other relevant degrees

  • Experience in PCR testing and other biochemistry assays is required.

  • Industry experience is preferred, but fresh graduates with relevant academic background will be considered.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
