Google Hardware Engineer, Power, Platforms and Services in New Taipei City, Taiwan

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2 years of experience working in a power electronics technical environment, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

  • 3 years of experience in power conversion design for consumer electronics applications (e.g., battery charging, USB-PD adapter, wireless charging, etc.).

  • Experience in wireless charging design and WPC-Qi specification.

  • Knowledge of on-board power conversion design for consumer electronics battery charging applications.

  • Knowledge on system power converter modeling and simulation, electromagnetic modeling, analysis, and simulation tools.

  • Excellent analysis and organizational skills with attention to detail.

As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

In this role, you will influence industry standards, create charging solutions for Pixel devices, and collaborate on features like Google Assistant integration, wireless charging innovations, and more.

  • Work with cross-functional hardware, software, and systems teams to define, implement, and integrate battery charging hardware solutions to meet product battery charging requirements.

  • Define and develop detailed circuit/models for optimizing charging efficiency, reduce charging time, and improve charging thermal performance.

  • Define, develop, and optimize magnetic components for charging (e.g., wireless charging coils using modeling and simulation tools).

  • Create hardware power testing plans, validate the charging hardware system, and work with cross-functional teams for system validation in products.

  • Propose and drive implementation of innovative new power solutions for charging features across hardware and software.
