JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

This position is within the Configuration Management Department. Performs a wide variety of planning, maintenance, design engineering, project management and construction, and operations activities related to routine, non-routine, and emergency restoration duties with minimal oversight. Project areas may include grid/system design, operations and maintenance, planning, asset management, reliability, computer applications, safety, and root cause failure analysis. Focus areas include responsibilities for Facility Ratings, creation/updating and future automation of the FRWB; Energization Process and ensuring compliance within certain aspects of transmission.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Performs a wide variety of engineering support activities in transmission-related areas such as planning, maintenance, design/asset modeling, project management and construction, and operations.

  2. Uses engineering/technical principles, best practices, and knowledge of internal and external business issues to solve problems, develop cost-effective, technically sound solutions, and improve products or services.

  3. Supports activities to comply with applicable industry standards (i.e., NERC, SERC) and other utility regulations, as required.

  4. With Engineer and/or management oversight, applies knowledge of engineering principles in evaluating alternatives, making decisions, and interpreting/employing applicable electrical codes, procedures, standards, processes, and policies.

  5. Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education required of the position

  • 2 or 4 year Associate/Technical Degree and minimum experience requirements.

Minimum experience required of the position

  • EA I: 5 years operational experience or minimum education requirements.

  • EA II: 2 years' technical experience and a Technical Degree, or 10 years operational experience or minimum education requirements.

  • Sr EA: 5 years of technical/design experience and Associate/Technical Degree, or 15 years operational experience.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of Transmission Line Design

  • Maximo Experience

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position

  • Demonstrated ability to apply engineering principles.

  • Thorough understanding of procedures, programs, and standards in responsible area.

  • Consistently demonstrates good technical/engineering judgment.

  • Good leadership & interpersonal skills along with strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.

  • Good knowledge of Personal Computer operations and related software.

  • Ability to manage multiple activities and changing priorities.

  • Ability to work well under pressure.

  • Required to work safely and follow all Entergy safety policies and procedures.

  • Ability to recognize hazards in the workplace and have the ability to mitigate the hazards.

  • Demonstrated acceptance of a diverse and inclusive work environment and customer base.

  • Ability to recognize opportunities for process improvement and have the ability to enact change.

Preferred:

  • Proficient technical expertise with computer software and database development.

  • Skills in engineering analysis, problem solving and condition assessment.
