Google Model Shop Engineer, Devices and Services in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, Physics, related field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3 years of experience programming/operating CNC equipment.

  • Experience with metal/wood shop tools (e.g., lathes, mills, saws, grinders, sanders, drills, welding equipment).

  • Experience with tolerance analysis, drawings, inspection equipment, CAD packages (e.g., ProE, AutoCAD, etc.), and CAM software.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related field.

  • Proficiency with Cadence or other electrical modeling/drawings tool.

  • Experience with a broad set of materials and processes, along with analytical and organizational skills, and focused attention to detail.

As a Hardware Engineer, you design and build the systems that are the heart of the world's largest and most powerful computing infrastructure. You develop from the lowest levels of circuit design to large system design and see those systems all the way through to high volume manufacturing. Your work has the potential to shape the machinery that goes into our cutting-edge data centers affecting millions of Google users.

In this role, you will own a Model Shop to support Engineering teams and prototype projects. You will maintain the engineering shop, machines, software, and workflow operations. You will work with teams to provide input on designs and be responsible for procuring materials, making modifications, fabricating assemblies, and communicating issues.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $99,000-$145,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Understand DFM in machining, CAD revise, and CAM software.

  • Operate and maintain a manual mill, CNC, and woodworking equipment in a lab environment. Train other employees to operate milling, drilling, and laser cutting machines, and in safety of machine shop operations.

  • Create, modify, and assemble unique systems which require turning, milling, sawing, drilling, welding, and catalog parts. Design and create test fixtures, tooling, and other mechanisms needed to support R&D teams.

  • Create unique assemblies out of a wide variety of materials and parts.

  • Build a service that supports Google’s variety of development areas.
