ITT Corporation Manufacturing Technician IMMEDIATE OPENINGS- 2nd shift in Lancaster, Pennsylvania
Lean Technicians are responsible for the assembly, test, and shipment of all manufactured goods by flowing the product at the pull of the customer. Lean technicians may be assigned any departmental task and must flex within the facility to satisfy customer needs including all lower classified functions. Daily cell activity will include direct communication with personnel from Sales, Purchasing, Planning, Environmental Safety & Health, Inventory, Engineering, VBLSS, Quality and the customer as required. Lean technicians are also responsible for the production of all final assemblies and sub-assemblies, polishing, hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, deburring, painting and/or paint preparation, and all pre-shipping and shipping activities. The technician operates tow motors and is required to perform warehouse functions. The Lean Technician is also required to prep for weld, run saws and manual lathes, milling machines and drills, and wash parts. Responsible for the inspection and quality of the Lancaster product.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for the receiving, manufacturing, processing, and shipping of all Lancaster engineered valve products in the facility
Responsible for 6S activities and maintaining equipment including adding coolants and lubricants as needed to ensure their proper and safe operation
May be required to qualify and test in order to manufacture the nuclear product
Participates in Kaizen events, Kanbans, continuous improvement and safety teams
Pulls and issues parts and moves stock and completed assemblies as required. Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory control by adhering to and carrying out standard transactional processes and visual triggers within the lean system
Responsible for the quality and performs inspection of all incoming manufacturing materials and follows specified procedure for rejection of defective materials; indicates acceptance or rejection by completion of proper documentation as required; uses all types of measuring instruments to perform dimensional and surface finish examinations. Performs appropriate (nonconformance) inventory transactions as required
Packages product and produces required documentation including certifications and labeling in preparation for shipment
Trains other co-workers in job duties/functions, as assigned
Performs efficiently and in-line with current performance standards, as applicable
Manually or automatically finishes all bodies and body configurations. Finishes include 35, 25, 20, 15, and 11Ra, as well as other customer required finishes
Certifies (100% inspection by another inspector is not necessary) the quality of the surface finish of all polished or electro polished bodies to ITT BPE specifications; ability to use gauges such as profilometer, dial calipers, wall thickness gauges and other inspection equipment to insure the above
Operates air-powered tools and other finishing equipment, small hand tools
Able to read wiring diagrams and wire switches as per drawings
Operates tow motor, hand jack and pallet jack as required
Performs Sustain activities to assure that all 6S areas are maintained and assures a clean and safe work area
Reads and interprets shop orders, certifications, drawings and other instructions provided per the individual shop order
Operates PC based systems for the following information: obtain drawings, marks product, and access the S/400 BPCS system for various job-related inquiries; utilizes the bar code system to perform accurate labor and time and attendance transactions for payroll. In addition, utilizes the barcode system to maintain inventory accuracy
Identifies and reports safety issues and participates in resolution as appropriate, and communicates required services to a supervisor or maintenance department.
Safely operates material handling equipment such as pallet trucks and material carts
Communicates with department personnel as well as with all other supporting departments such as Environmental Safety & Health, Sales, Purchasing, Production Control, Engineering, Shipping and Facilities/Maintenance
Complies with all safety, environmental, quality, and process standards, rules and procedures
Performs other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent related experience. Basic knowledge of computer operation. Prior experience in production or manufacturing, and use of hand production tools, strongly preferred.
Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English. Ability to effectively communicate with coworkers, managers, customers, etc.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Basic knowledge of computer operation. Must have basic familiarity with computer and software systems such as email, database, and data entry.
