Job Description:

Parsons is seeking a highly experienced Senior Design Specialist - Guest/Visitor Experience Planning to play a pivotal role in shaping the overall guest journey and ensuring that every visitor has an immersive, educational, and memorable experience in a state-of-the-art oceanarium project. Working closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, engineers, educators, and animal care specialists, the Design Specialist will translate the client’s vision into reality by designing innovative exhibits, interactive experiences, and immersive environments that captivate and engage visitors.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Lead the conceptualization, development, and implementation of the guest experience strategy for the oceanarium, ensuring alignment with the client’s mission, brand, and target audience.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to define the scope, objectives, and requirements for guest experience design, including thematic elements, storytelling, and interactive components.

  • Conduct research and analysis to identify emerging trends, best practices, and technologies in the field of museum and attraction design, incorporating insights into the development of innovative guest experiences.

  • Create detailed design briefs, concept sketches, renderings, and prototypes to communicate vision and ideas effectively to stakeholders and project teams.

  • Oversee the production and installation of exhibit components, interactive displays, signage, and multimedia elements, ensuring adherence to quality standards, budget constraints, and project timelines.

  • Work closely with the operations team to develop and implement visitor flow strategies, crowd management plans, and accessibility solutions to enhance the overall guest experience.

  • Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior design team members, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in design, architecture, themed entertainment, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 20 years of experience in guest experience design, exhibit design, or themed entertainment, with a proven track record of successful projects in the attractions industry.

  • Extensive knowledge of design principles, storytelling techniques, and visitor engagement strategies, with a focus on creating immersive and interactive experiences.

  • Proficiency in 3D modeling software (e.g., SketchUp, Rhino, Autodesk Maya) and graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite), as well as experience with multimedia production and interactive technology platforms.

  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, manage budgets, and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and build consensus around design solutions.
