Position Description:

As Lead Accountant for Goodyear’s Houston Chemical plant, you will work in support of General Accounting tasks including: month-end close responsibilities, quarter-end consolidation, and financial accounting and reporting activities to ensure compliance with all requirements in support of Plant Accounting. In addition, you will provide budget and cost analysis for the plant team by working with the chemical business units in various departments to communicate and interpret financial results and provide reporting.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overseeing daily cost accounting activities, month-end closing processes, and monthly reporting. Additional duties include conducting cost management analysis, budgeting, conducting fixed asset reviews, and managing inventory.

  • Analyze, interpret, and communicate financial results to various groups within Goodyear including management. Assist in developing solutions for problems identified.

  • Provide supervision and support for one direct report on the accounting team.

  • Develop and enhance internal control procedures. Assist with any special projects/assignments as applicable.

Required Experience and Education:

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline

  • 5 or more years of accounting with cost analysis experience desired.

  • Experience working in an environment requiring analytical response to a variety of business issues.

Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to interpret and apply current US GAAP, accounting for complex transactions and internal controls in compliance with SOX.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SAP (desired)

  • CPA and/or MBA or advanced Degree desired

  • Highly organized and ability to manage concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities.

  • Quick and agile learning abilities, situational adaptability, change management, and resourcefulness.

  • Ability to communicate to present information, both verbally and written effectively with all levels of the organization
