Internal Communications Manager

The Internal Communications Manager is responsible for global internal communications within the IP Value Center that engage current and prospective employees in the company’s strategy and further their understanding of our vision and purpose. This involves designing communications programs and strategies that increase employee business acumen and create alignment with IP’s strategy, goals, key company-wide issues and best practices. The Communication Manager will also act in the capacity of communications consultant to a variety of stakeholders and should be equally comfortable operating in the trenches and working alongside senior leadership. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of creating and deploying internal communications and engagement channels, programs and creative campaigns with a measurable positive impact on employee engagement and business performance.

-Build and execute an internal communications strategy to reinforce IP’s vision, purpose and business objectives while building employees’ sense of pride and understanding of their contributions to IP ·

-Work alongside the senior leadership team and HR leads to establish/maintain captivating internal communications programs that are informative and energizing for employees

-Translate company strategies into communications and change management plans that ensure key business issues and initiatives, such as innovation, culture and customer focus, are consistently and successfully communicated across the organization

-Oversee development and accuracy of compelling messaging, content and graphics for channels including newsletters, blogs and intranet sites

-Seek out and analyze employee feedback mechanisms; interpret data to recommend best practices feedback

-Develop and maintain relationships with key internal teams/stakeholders including ITT’s corporate communications, senior leadership, HR and Marketing teams, to ensure every internal communications opportunity is maximized and successes are amplified

-Provide counsel to leadership on important employee communications and engagement issues.

-Partner with other functions on critical communication and change management issues and provide communications guidance around initiatives such as culture, performance management, diversity and inclusion, code of conduct, organizational and employee announcements, policy changes, etc.

-Manage quarterly Town Hall meetings and other events as needed

-Design, develop and support talent acquisition communication strategies

-Develop appropriate metrics to measure the impact of internal communications

Position Title:

Skills and Experience:

-Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English or related field.

-5-7 years of experience in corporate communications, with an emphasis on internal communications – external communications experience is a plus.

-Effective Communication: Proven ability to create and implement comprehensive internal communications programs that support a corporate strategy and overall business priorities and focus areas. Excellent writing skills are a necessity, including the ability to write speeches for internal and external audiences. Experience with cutting-edge communications practices and technologies, along with outstanding and creative oral and written communication skills and understanding of social media usage in business applications.

-Collaboration and Teamwork: Proven track record of teamwork, innovation and results. Consummate organizational savvy, with the ability to interact and influence at all levels of an organization. Much of the success in the position will be based on relationship-building. Humility and the highest ethical standards are important leadership competencies at ITT.

-Influence: Experience in counseling managers on communication –related topics

-Strategic Business Perspective: Strategic thinking, judgment and sound decision-making are key, with the ability to think and act under pressure.

-Execution: Comfort balancing strategic and tactical in lean environment.

-Prioritization and Planning: The ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, working with a cross-section of colleagues and third-party resources.
