Amentum Drinking Water Analyst in Hawthorne, Nevada

Amentum is seeking a Drinking Water Analyst – Part Time (Remote) to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. This is a remote position supporting the team. The Drinking Water Analyst will be responsible for reviewing water samples results and determine further action for contaminate findings. Analyst will review chlorine residuals collected daily throughout the distribution system and ensure that a minimum of 0.8mg/L free chlorine residuals throughout water system and maintain logs of all data.

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees.

  • Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations.

  • May be required to work overtime.

  • Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record.

  • Reads and understands Task Hazard Analysis for identifying risks to health and safety during job specific tasks in the workplace.

  • Performs other duties of the same or lower level of difficulty as assigned.

  • May be assigned occasional duties of a higher level of difficulty than those listed above.

  • Responsible for reporting potential real environmental concerns to the Environmental Service.

  • Review sample results and determine further action (samples include TNT/RDX, Bacti, Arsenic, etc.)

  • Review chlorine residuals collected daily throughout distribution system.

  • Maintain a minimum of 0.8 mg/L free chlorine residual throughout the system. Maintain logs of chlorine residuals.

  • Ensure readings are being collected daily and accurately in logs and PMs at each location by following and double-checking accuracy with SCADA and comparing to what is expected from historical data.

  • Determine if we have a leak and where, locate and isolate. If water pressure is lost, issue a Boil Water Notice. Notify NDEP, Government Staff, Safety, Environmental and Darren, then notify customers prior to service being restored.

  • Review upcoming sample requirements for the week by referring to the Monitoring Status Report and the various wastewater permits.

  • Notify proper contact of anything out of the ordinary (i.e. leaks, repairs needed, emergencies, upcoming projects)

  • Order parts to repair any issues we may encounter.

  • Ensure all treatment equipment is in proper working order.

  • Review SCADA to monitor any trending water usage, treatment processes etc.

  • Contact WETLAB and NV Analytical for any bottles needed.

  • Fill out Chain of Custodies for samples collected and ensure proper collection and delivery (typically collect Wednesdays and deliver on Thursdays)

  • Enter data collected on PMs such as outfall readings in WADF for DMRs.

  • Sort and organize sample results.

  • Collect and compile data collected on daily sheets to create monthly reports for NDEP. Attach any relevant sample results also.

  • Review what samples may need collected for the following month (weekly, monthly, quarterly)

  • Compile data and create the Consumer Confidence Report and distribute to NDEP and all customers of HWAD on an annual basis.

  • Meet with NDEP about the Sanitary Survey annually.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years or older.

  • High school diploma/equivalent.

  • Must be a US Citizen or naturalized citizen able to obtain/maintain HWAD site access.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Nevada driver’s license.

  • Must also be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance as well as a clearance through the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms and be favorably vetted through the NCIC III System.

  • Must be willing and able to work in an environmental and safety compliant environment.

  • Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any HWAD drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain all certifications through Amentum’s Master Training Plan.

  • Must hold a current Water Treatment 3 certificate.

  • Must hold a current Water Distribution 2 certificate.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a water treatment facility.

This position is designated as non-safety sensitive position and is subject to the requirements of the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan and Matrix and the HWAD A&D Program. As a condition of employment, candidates, and incumbents must favorably complete personnel security

investigation, urinalysis testing, respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel. Suitability and reliability requirements established by the Hawthorne Army Depot Commander and HWAD O&M contract requirements.
