Akebono Brake Corporation Manufacturing Engineer in Glasgow, Kentucky

Provide industrial and manufacturing engineering support to the Business Unit Engineering and maintenance teams to assist with troubleshooting and elimination of chronic maintenance items for the manufacture of automotive brake components; plan, design and analyze manufacturing processes for production facility; maximize efficiency by optimization of layout of equipment, workflow and assembly methods; determine the parts, equipment, tools and processes needed in order to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specifications; lead continuous improvement projects in the following fields: equipment uptime and changeover time reductions; plan and manage improvement projects by performing the following: cost justification projects, work with production line to implement projects, develop budgets and ensure adherence to budgets, and develop project timelines and ensure adherence to schedules; develop, maintain, and improve production operations; design and implement automated systems for use in diverse manufacturing and production environments; lead collaborative discussions between leadership and key stakeholders to determine automation capabilities and goals; create detailed road maps to guide automation projects from conception to final implementation; support existing automation technology with component and process upgrades; utilize knowledge of ladder logic development for Mitsubishi, Siemens and Allen-Bradley PLCs and utilize knowledge of Servo based motion control and experience with specification development for electronic hardware; support KAIZEN team on scrap and productivity improvement projects; develop and implement counter measure solutions to address customer complaints as part of 8D team; work with new product launch team on prototype trials, PPAP and perform Machine Run at Rate; and utilize statistical knowledge and its application in process engineering; and utilize the following in performing duties: PDCA and DMAIC problem solving approach, AUTOCAD, BRICS CAD, capital project planning, value stream mapping, POKE YOKE design. Must have a Master of Science Degree in Industrial or Systems Engineering or foreign equivalent, and 2 years’ experience. Qualifying experience must be as an Engineer or substantially similar position performing the following for a manufacturer of automotive brakes: provide manufacturing engineering support for production related issues; plan, design and analyze manufacturing processes for production automotive brake production facility; create detailed road maps to guide automation projects from conception to final implementation; support existing automation technology with component and process upgrades; lead continuous improvement projects in the following fields: equipment uptime and changeover time reductions; support KAIZEN team on scrap and productivity improvement projects; develop and implement counter measure solutions to address customer complaints as part of 8D team; work with new product launch team on prototype trials, PPAP and perform Machine Run at Rate; and utilize the following: PDCA and DMAIC problem solving approach, AUTOCAD, BRICS CAD, capital project planning, value stream mapping, POKE YOKE design.
