Position Summary

This position will support the 4-H Youth Development Extension Specialist with a focus on creating an agriculture program and preparing for the Montezuma County Fair. Including but not limited to, contacting local agriculture producers, contact catering companies, creating judging folders, contacting sponsors, creating social media posts, working with the Fair Board, and interacting/corresponding with 4-H members and parents. Since this is a position that works with youth, there are different situations that arise in the office, and we ask that privacy is respected and kept confidential during these situations.

This position will start June 1st and run through August 9th (flexible with start and end dates) with working up to 29 hours a week. Except the week before the fair, it will be up to 40 hours.

Position Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to work with attention to detail, accuracy, and timely.

  • General office skills such as filing, organizing materials, etc.

  • Communication (oral, written, listening, and public speaking/presentation) skills.

  • Computer literacy; Word, Publisher, Excel, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities.

  • Experience working with youth in an educational setting (4-H experience a plus).

  • Knowledge of basic cash handling and fiscal responsibility.

  • Demonstrated skill working with people as individuals and in groups.

  • Willingness to assist other staff in the performance of their duties.

  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other agencies and departments, and the public.
