The Role

Our Deburr Machinists uses 90 degree die grinders, pencil grinders, rotary bench grinders with polishing and abrasives wheels, and other handheld pneumatic and electric tools to fine tune machined parts from our gear, mill, and lathe machining operations.

Specific Responsibilities Can Include:

  • Calculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, and depth and angle of tool placement.

  • Verifies conformance of finished part to specifications.

  • Confers with department management, production personnel, quality department personnel, or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

  • Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

  • Measures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or workpiece as guides for subsequent machining.

  • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on pneumatic and electric tools.

  • Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls as required.

  • Fits and assembles parts into complete assembly.

  • Verifies dimensions and alignment of assembly.

  • Seeks out opportunities to learn about all areas of the shop floor and enthusiastically pursues ongoing self-development in leadership and technical skills that will enhance and continually improve products, processes, and people with a Focus on the Customer.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, general education degree (GED), or completion of manufacturing-related vocational training

  • Six months of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Knowledge of Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Email software.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Work Environment

This position is in a standard manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical equipment. The noise levels in the work environment are frequently moderate to loud. Safety glasses and safety shoes are required throughout the shop floor and hearing protection is recommended, with the exception of certain manufacturing areas, which require hearing protection at all times.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, climb/balance/kneel, reach, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, with assistance. The employee may be required to work in loud environments. Employee may be required to wear personal protective equipment for extended periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by this job include, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, focus adjustment.

The following levels are determined based on employee's experience and skillset for the specified functions within the job description.

Hourly pay rates vary based on job level (I-IV) and are reflected below:

Machinist I: $24.00-$27.00/hr

Machinist II: $26.00-$30.00/hr

Machinist III: $28.00-$34.00/hr

Machinist IV: $31.00-$39.00/hr
