JOB REQUIREMENTS: The City of Beloit has an exciting employment opportunity available in the Planning and Building Services Division of the Community Development Department. Beloit seeks a Planner I or II which is responsible for professional work in the field of urban and community planning. The work performed by a Planner I or II involves collection and analysis of a wide range of community development, transportation and urban planning information to make recommendations regarding planning strategies, processes, policies and ordinances. This position assists with a variety of planning projects in the Community Development Department and requires considerable independent judgement, initiative and responsibility. The individual hired may be hired as a Planner I or Planner II depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Planner I A valid driver\'s license and satisfactory driving record. Bachelor\'s Degree from an accredited College/University with major course work in Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Studies, Geography or similar field of study. Professional urban planning experience in a municipal government setting is preferred. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position may also be considered. Planner II A valid driver\'s license and satisfactory driving record. Bachelor\'s Degree from an accredited College/University with major course work in Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Studies, Geography or similar field of study. A minimum of two (2) years of professional urban planning experience is required, preferably in a municipal government setting. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position may also be considered.
