Robert Half Bookkeeper in Baltimore, Maryland

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for a diligent Bookkeeper in the Non-Profit sector. Our office is located in Baltimore, Maryland, and you will be integral in the day-to-day financial operations of our organization. The position involves a wide range of financial tasks, from processing payroll to managing accounts payable and receivable, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee all bookkeeping duties, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, loan receivables, and construction finance-related tasks.

• Conduct regular account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and reconciliations of subsidiary ledgers to the general ledger.

• Properly record, allocate, and reconcile capital and operating grants and contributions to the correct ledger accounts.

• Process bi-weekly payroll and employee benefits, and monitor payroll account funds.

• Ensure compliance with financial and contract reporting requirements for private or public funding, licensing, or regulatory agencies.

• Assist the Finance and Administration Manager with monthly financial statements and ensure their accuracy and timeliness.

• Collaborate with business unit leaders to ensure the accuracy of invoices and vendor billing.

• Prepare checks from check requests for vendors and staff reimbursements.

• Maintain contract fund accounts and revise contract budgets as needed.

• Assist in the preparation for annual financial audits.

• Maintain an organized filing system for expenses, contracts, and properties.

• Support all Human Resources functions in coordination with the Finance and Administration staff. Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a bookkeeping role

• Proficiency in account reconciliation and general ledger management

• Demonstrated ability to handle accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR)

• Experience in performing bank reconciliations

• Strong bookkeeping skills and knowledge of financial reporting

• Proficient in data entry tasks

• Skilled in using Microsoft Excel for financial tasks and data management

• Ability to handle month-end close procedures

• Experience in managing payroll

• Ability to prepare and understand financial statements

• Experience in creating and managing annual budgets.
