Do you want to use your current skills in a new market? Make the well-intervention business your new career choice as a Tong Operator. Tong Operators visually inspect and ensure the safety of the equipment throughout the completion of the project by carrying out all maintenance, inspections, and repairs of tongs. Work is rotational on U.S. land and offshore locations.
POSITION REQUIREMENT AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must be at least 18 years of age
High School or GED equivalent preferred
Ability to pass a post-offer physical examination and drug screen
Follow safety requirements and take an active part in safety meetings, risk assessments, hazard hunts, and JSAs
Basic ability to understand, speak, read and write English
Basic computer skills
Assist in rig up and rig down, offload, and spot equipment
Execute tong and pumping operations
Ability to read and understand equipment certification and test charts.
Inspect, service, and maintain tongs and slips
Assist in installing the tong arm and other mechanisms that hold the tong and ensure the equipment is properly secured and maintained, and ensure the height is correct for safe operation
Operate high-pressure pumps, lay-down systems, counterbalance winches, and lift equipment.
Complete Critical Function Tests (CFT) as assigned.
Weigh mud and check viscosity, calculate pit volumes, and monitor returns from shakers.
Prepare for drilling/milling operations by checking valve alignment, ensuring equipment is not isolated, and assigning charging pumps, liner-cooling pumps, and pit agitators.
Nipple up and down, maintain and assist with BOP repairs.
Use appropriate mixing procedures and arrange mud materials and chemicals for safe use.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to enter confined spaces by use of ladders or other access devices, up to 20 feet.
Perform work in all types of environmental and extreme weather conditions.
Perform duties with all protective equipment and H2S respirator when required.
