We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Research Associate to join our Research and Development facility at Arica, Chile.

At the site, the candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Supervise, coordinate and manage all laboratory operations, including ear preparation, culture media preparation and performing in vitro tissue culture, ensuring high sample-integrity, delivering consistent variety purity, appropriate traceability and producing the desirable quantity of pure lines for the internal customers.

  2. Plan, execute and oversee different activities to maintain the highest quality and efficiency to accomplish with the daily targets required for double haploid production, while staying on budget.

  3. Planning, manage and report weekly lab activities including hiring contract labor, maintain available lab supplies and reagents. Maintain the appropriate number of workers according to the workload. Train and guide employees to carry out the listed duties and following the protocols and working in safe and efficient way.

  4. Manage the capital goods (equipment and supplies) to achieve the production aim with the highest quality an uninterrupted process, by taking care of the purchase, maintenance (involve service request and up-to-date calibration records) and certify when corresponds.

  5. Frequently monitoring the outcomes of the quality controls and adjust any deviation immediately. Automate and to digitize the process to improve the efficiency and making easy them quality control process.

  6. Be responsible for collecting and analyze the production data on time. Analyze and summarize results and generate reports using the most appropriate methods. Provide constantly communication and updates to supervisors.

  7. Ensure all safety and regulatory compliance (CAMS), including proper chemical storage and hazardous waste disposal.

  8. Maintain informative talks with the Arica's Lab personnel, and CORTEVA's Lab groups worldwide, in reference to the productive and research status of the Laboratory

Qualifications

  • University degree in agriculture, crop sciences, plant biology, biological sciences or similar.

  • Desirable minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in Laboratory and proven experience leading work groups.

  • Experience in maintaining well-organized lab and thorough records.

  • Experience with safety Lab conditions and control.

  • Experience managing common Lab equipment such as spectrophotometer, autoclaves, Laminar Flow Hoods, others.

  • Background in descriptive and inferential statistics (basic level). Statistical software management is a plus.

  • Proficiency with Windows programs and ability to learn new software as be required. Experience with software to automate and digitize the data process (Power Bi, Power Automate, Spotfire) is a plus.

  • Written and spoken English knowledge. Intermediate level is a plus.

  • Critical thinking, problem solving and analysis.

  • Ability to lead, calmly handle adversity and professionally deal with conflict.
