Preferred Qualifications:Experience assisting clients in course design and implementation.

Experience working with multiple clients in a corporate, higher education or other large organization.

Experience managing multiple projects from concept to completion and making recommendations for best practice solutions.

Experience in researching new technologies and bringing suggestions to leadership.

Experience working across teams and units to accomplish common goals.

Familiarity with Quality Matters and/or other quality assurance tools for online learning environments.

Job Description:

Summary

The Instructional Designer II position within Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) collaborates with subject matter experts to effectively design, develop and support courses across all modalities at the University. This position will provide guidance regarding technologies supported at the university.

Responsibilities

  • Partners with subject matter experts and instructors on the creation of high-quality designed and developed courses for online and in-person courses, etc.

  • Participates in course auditing, updating, and quality design assurance for online and in-person environments.

  • Assists subject matter experts in the designing and development of courses with current systems and technologies.

  • Provides guidance to stakeholders on instructional design standards and established procedures.

  • Works in collaboration with units across campus.

  • Collaborate with clients on developing additional materials as needed.

    The successful candidate will have

  • Graphic design knowledge

  • An understanding of HTML in relation to online training

  • Enthusiasm and creativity geared towards learning

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software, Articulate Storyline or similar content creating software, and Adobe products (ex: InDesign & Photoshop)

  • Audio and video editing skills as related to course development

  • Effective time management and organizational skills.

  • The ability to work well with a variety of staff.

  • The ability to communicate effectively.

This is a 1 year fixed term with opportunity for renewal.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.

Example of Duties• Consults with faculty, staff, and other subject matter experts to support online teaching, courses, and programs.• Develops and converts courses and programs to innovative online and other technology-assisted venues.• Utilizes cutting-edge and creative design and course delivery options.• Utilizes learning theory to select instructional models best suited to enhance critical thinking and information literacy skills.• Analyzes, designs, develops, and implements online courses and web-based training.• Aids in identifying learning objectives and content.• Writes and develops content as needed.Level Guidelines• Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals• Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues• Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems• Responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests• May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff• May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity• Provides guidance to students
